Britney Spears

Britney Spears was born in rural Louisiana. At age eight, she tried out for The Disney Channel’s Mickey Mouse Club (1989), but was turned down due to her young age. However, this directed her to an off-Broadway show, "Ruthless", for a two-year run as the title character. At age 11, she again tried for The New Mickey Mouse Club and this time made it as a Mouseketeer alongside Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chasez of N*Sync. Her big break, however, came in the late nineties when she was signed to Jive Records. With the release of her debut album, "...Baby One More Time" in early 1999, Britney became an international success, selling thirteen million copies and over nine million of her sophomore album, "Oops!...I Did It Again". Britney is the author of the best-selling Britney Spears’ Heart to Heart (Three Rivers Press) and Stages (NVU Editions).
