General Joseph P. Franklin
General Joseph P. Franklin graduated from West Point in 1955 with a commission in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was assigned to Karlsruhe, Germany, and served with Combat Engineer units until 1959. He earned his Masters degrees in Civil Engineering and Nuclear Engineering at MIT. Franklin was selected to be Commandant of Cadets at West Point, where he served until 1982. From there, he was promoted to Major General and assigned in 1983 as Chief of the Joint U.S. Military Group and Senior U.S. Defense Representative in Spain.

General Franklin retired in 1987 and founded Franklin, S.A., a Spanish business consultancy located in Madrid, specializing in investments and joint ventures. He is currently Vice-Chairman Elect of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Graduates at West Point. He is married to Constance Marie Smith, also from Cumberland, Maryland. They have four sons.

General Franklin's first book, Building Leaders the West Point Way, was published by Thomas Nelson Books.
